Recently, South Korean media reported that South Korean electronics company LG Electronics has decided to sell key equipment for OLED panels to Chinese manufacturers, and the device and LG Display are currently being used online. The same equipment, so triggered the South Korean industry discussion. The industry is concerned that if Chinese manufacturers acquire equipment, the gap between South Korea's OLED panel production technology will be shortened and it will be like helping the Chinese OLED panel industry. This makes the current China anti-Korean anti-Korean incident at the moment of the Saddam incident, which has particularly attracted the attention of South Korean industry.
The news pointed out that the OLED film packaging machine that will be sold by Lejin Electronics will be used in the packaging operation after the red, green and blue (RGB) three-color evaporation to isolate the OLED from the influence of oxygen and moisture penetration. The packaging machine adopts the inkjet printing mode, so that the organic layer can be alternately stacked with the inorganic layer in a short time to form a protective film.
In fact, as early as May 2016, Lucky Electronics has already decided to sell the equipment to Shenzhen Tianma Electronic Co., Ltd. It is expected that it will ship in the second quarter of 2017 and will include OLED panel equipment such as film packaging machines. To Tianma Microelectronics' Wuhan plant, Tianma Microelectronics expects to start mass production of OLED panels in the second quarter of 2018.
Lejin Electronics will sell the equipment to Tianma Microelectronics, which is the same as the latest process equipment currently used by its OLED manufacturer LGD. LGD has recently installed inkjet printers on its small and medium size OLEDs at the E5 plant. It is also conducting bench testing. Moreover, it is expected that the same equipment will be installed in the E6 plant in the near future. Among them, the rumored E6 is the production line set up by LGD for OLED panel orders for Apple's new iPhone smart phone.
According to industry insiders in South Korea, the organic vapor deposition process and the formation of a protective film packaging technology are the two keys to the OLED panel production process. LGD is the only manufacturer in the world outside of Samsung Display with mass production of small and medium sized OLED production lines. As for Shenzhen Tianma Microelectronics, after acquiring Lejin Electronics' thin film packaging machine, if it is used with plasma-assisted chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) equipment, almost half of the OLED process problems will be solved, further reducing the gap between the production of OLED panels and LGD. .
