Company News >> Three major large-screen video wall technology application analysis LCD comes after 13th,March,2018
AVC research shows that in 2009, the volume of large-screen splicing system projects reached 72,000 screens, an increase of 29% year-on-year. It is expected that in 2010, the volume of large-screen splicing systems will increase by more than 30%, and the transaction volume will reach over 90,000 screens.
Currently, DLP (back projection), LCD (liquid crystal), and PDP (plasma) are the three mainstream technologies in the large screen video wall industry. DLP has dominated the field of large-screen splicing systems by relying on its large-size seamless splicing technology and cost advantage; PDP is monopolized by OLI, which is limited by industry scale and cost disadvantage, and its competitiveness is limited to some market segments; LCD technology broke through in 2009. After the “fatal” factor that influenced the development of “splicing seam width”, it achieved rapid growth and a market share of 21%, which has already formed a strong challenge to the dominance of DLP.
From the aspect of PDP technology, ARI's PDP splicing technology was first introduced in 2005. With the characteristics of thin body, small joints, and long life, it is widely used in electric power, coal, water conservancy, education and other industries. Currently, PDP splicing screen The technology is monopolized by Ou Lian, and the domestic market adopts the model of the general generation. However, due to the decline of the overall PDP industry and its relatively high cost, its market share has remained at around 10%. In recent years, with the increasing demand for technology such as large-size, non-burning and other display technologies, the market share of PDP splicing systems has gradually declined. In 2009, the project turnover accounted for only 9% of the overall market, with LCDs. The rise of this ratio may be further reduced in 2010.
In terms of DLP technology, DLP splicing systems have been relying on mature technologies for the past few years and have attracted a large number of users due to its large size, small seams, and ability to display static images for a long time. The DLP splicing system accounted for 64% of the market share in 2009. However, with the rise of LCD technology, this dominant position is gradually weakening.
LCD technology has the advantages of thin thickness, low energy consumption, long life, and infinite splicing. It can create personalized splicing methods based on space and customer needs. Thanks to the great advantages in technology and industry chain, the market share of LCD splicing system rose to 21% in 2009. At present, the leading manufacturers of DLP splicing systems such as Victron have also begun to develop dual-line DLP and LCD.
Compared with a splicing gap with a DLP of less than 2 mm, the biggest disadvantage of LCD lies in the large splicing seams. However, with the continuous upgrading of LCD product technology, especially in the first half of 2009, Samsung achieved a 6.7 mm double stitching joint technology for the entire machine. , Making LCD splicing technology significantly improved, expanding the application of the product. At the same time, mass production of 3-mm double-sided thickness display units for liquid crystal spliced products has also been put on the agenda and is expected to enter the market in the second half of 2010. At the same time, LCD has a long life, can reach more than 60,000 hours; thin thickness, small footprint, easier to install and maintain; screen display and other advantages.
In addition, from the perspective of the overall industry chain of the splicing system, the terminal display device is a key component. Among the three technologies, only the LCD display has the advantages of high concentration and large scale at the same time. Samsung has promoted the commercial display as the main force. The continuous progress, while LG, Sharp, AUO and other panel makers are also actively arranging the display panel mosaic market, the addition of these powerful companies to further improve the LCD splicing system to play a certain positive role.
According to the analysis, by 2015, LCD's market share will increase from the current 21% to nearly 50%, becoming the mainstream technology in the market.
